Dr. Lutherer received his PhD in Physiology from the University of Florida in 1969 and took a position as Assistant Professor of Physiology at Texas Tech in 1972. He received his MD from Texas Tech in 1977 and is currently a member of the Graduate Faculty. He was recently named the Medical Director of the School of Medicine Clinical Research Center.

Dr. Straus has been at the TTUHSC for 28 years. He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Loyola University in Chicago in 1974. His current research focuses on Pathogenic Bacteriology and Sick Building Syndrome.

Dr. Sawyer received her doctorate in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1988. Dr. Sawyer currently teaches Clinical Chemistry, Molecular Diagnostics, Applied Statistics and Research, and graduate level Molecular Cell Biology and Human Neuroscience.

Dr. Benjamin is a practicing pediatric surgeon and has been on the clinical faculty of TTU since 1995, coming to Amarillo from the Children�s Hospital of Pittsburgh (full time faculty University of Pittsburgh). She joined the full time faculty of TTUHSC in 2004.

Dr. Escudier began her healthcare career as a paramedic for the City of Galvestion Emergency Medical Services, where she was employed full-time for seven years. She received her M.D. from the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala, in 1994. Her field of specialized interest is crisis resource management in an effort to create a culture of safety and provide excellent patient care.

Dr. Acton has been with TTUHSC for 10 years. She received her DNP at Case Western Reserve University in 2008. Her current research interests are in leadership, clinical autonomy, and safe patient outcomes.

Dr. Powell has enjoyed a 28 year career in pharmacy where she practiced in community, institutional, and managed care environments. She received her MSPhr from the University of Texas and PharmD from the University of Houston. As a clinical specialist in managed care, she has been able to enhance the safety and quality of patient health care through health services research.
