Healthy Lubbock Initiative

The Healthy Lubbock Initiative is a community–driven collaborative approach, led by TTUHSC, to address the growing health crisis of obesity and associated medical problems such as diabetes. A planning grant for the initiative was awarded by the Association of Academic Health Centers, with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to encourage academic health centers to take more visible roles in community health promotion activities. Only three other programs were funded across the nation, including Duke University Health System, New York Medical College, and University of Nebraska Medical Center.
