Joseph Bishara
Joseph Bishara
Joseph BisharaJoseph combines classroom teaching experience, multimedia production experience, documentary and film direction experience, TV commercial advertising experience, and an in-depth education about instructional technology. He has contributed to more than 70 educational multimedia titles, earning awards since 1992. He was the lead researcher and developer of the first state-funded multimedia secondary biology course in America. In 2001, he became an instructional technologist by earning a Master of Education degree from Texas Tech University, where he focused on integrating research into the improvement of education. Bishara has taught courses including physics, mathematics, and video production.

Joseph's 1998 student film Simeon�s Promise, won the WorldFest International Film Festival's Top Honors Bronze Prize. He was selected CEV Multimedia national spokesperson in 2002; and was invited to speak in Texas, Washington, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Missouri by state, regional and national groups. He is a contributing writer to a national multimedia forum.

Ian has 3 decades experience in software development, engineering, statistical analysis and modeling, both in academia and industry. Prior to joining RCH, Ian taught as a lecturer in the Dept. of Computer Science at Texas Tech. Courses taught include computer architecture, Senior project design and implementation, introductory programming and a computer literacy course for non-majors. His PhD coursework is in image processing and computer vision, with a minor in remote sensing. Before moving to Lubbock, he was at the Multiple Mirror Telescope at Steward Observatory in Tucson, AZ, where he did image processing, real time telescope control, and numerical modeling and analysis for telescope tracking and pointing performance. He has also worked at Texas Instruments, both in Lubbock and in Avezzano, Italy, where his niche was statistical analysis of manufacturing process control data, and at Bell Communications in NJ, where he was involved in software development for testing communications equipment for standards compliance.

When not in front of a computer, he enjoys bicycling, choral music and musical theatre. He has performed in various musicals, recently appearing in local productions Annie Get Your Gun and 1776. He has also bicycled from Alaska to Virginia, and rode a tandem with his 11-year-old son in the Hotter'N'Hell Hundred last fall.

Cathy HudsonCathy holds a B.S. in Biology from Texas Tech University. She began her career with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1990. Her background includes 10 years of basic science research in the area of Nephrology, and 8 years experience in coordinating clinical trials and research involving human subjects. She has authored and co-authored numerous abstracts and manuscripts and her professional memberships include the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and the Society of Clinical Research Associates. Cathy is currently enrolled in the Certificate of Public Health program through the University of Texas School of Public Health.
Gordon Gong

Gordon Gong, MDGordon Gong joined the Rural Health Research Group after working as a faculty member at Hereditary Cancer Institute and Osteoporosis Research Center, Creighton University since 1994. His most recent publications involve biostatistics, genetic epidemiology, and human population genetics.

After graduation in 1970 from Harbin Medical University, Harbin, China, Gordon worked as a surgeon and then a physician till 1979. Gordon obtained a Masters degree from Capital University of Biomedical Sciences, Beijing, China after training in cardiology research (1979-1982). He worked as a cardiologist and assistant professor in this University until 1984. He came to the US in 1986 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Department of Pharmacology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (1986-1988).

Erin BraddockOriginally from the Texas Gulf Coast, Erin graduated from Texas Tech University in the spring of 2004 with a B.A. in Psychology. As a former psychology major and sociology minor, her interests lie mainly in the effects of the environment on individuals and groups and the disparities caused by socioeconomic influences. During her undergraduate studies, Erin was a member of the Honors College and also participated as a mentor in the PEGASUS Program for First Generation College (FGC) students. Her future plans include entering a health-related masters program.
Kris Hargrave
Kris Hargrave
Kris HargraveKris Hargrave joined the Rural Health Research Group after graduating from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Computer Science and minors in Electrical Engineering, Physics and Math. A native of Rural West Texas, he has always had an interest in computers and information management. As an undergraduate he held an internship as a database programmer, where he developed an interest in information management through databases. He also worked on a senior project in conjunction with the Institute and the prototype Student Health System.

The Rural Health Research Group is located in Suite 301A at the Texas Tech Plaza (the Bank of America building at 19th and University). The Rural Health Research Group is the research arm of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
