Research Focus
Life in West Texas presents a number of challenges. The changing demographics, population diversity, workforce issues, and geographic isolation create a complex environment of interrelated factors affecting health status and the delivery of health care. Yet, even in the face of these challenges, there are a variety of strengths and resources present in these communities that can help them cope, adjust, and thrive. The goal of our research is to gain a better understanding of both the challenges and the strengths in rural West Texas.
The vision of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health is for TTUHSC to be recognized as a national leader in improving rural health through applied research, advocacy, and practical interventions. The Research Group will help achieve this vision by providing a strong knowledge base and evaluation process for the Institute’s advocacy and intervention efforts.
