Senior Health
Multiple health problems, including chronic diseases, Alzheimer’s, and end-of-life decisions, are common in old age. Unfortunately, the senior population in rural West Texas must face these health problems with limited resources. This population is often isolated from service and health care providers and may also be separated from a strong support system, as younger relatives move away to look for better job opportunities. Rural caregivers often lack important emotional and structural supports, which can increase stress and have detrimental effects on the caregiver and thus the care recipient as well.
Current Work: We are developing plans for several projects to promote good health for seniors and caregivers in West Texas. More details will be posted soon!
