West Texas - A Vision of Rural Health for America
West Texas' geographic, economic and demographic characteristics make it a microcosm of a number of factors that impact rural health care across much of the United States. The purpose of this publication is to
- highlight the significant contributions of West Texas to the nation,
- identify specific health care service issues facing this region, as well as the rest of rural America, and
- outline the comprehensive education, research and outreach initiatives of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to serve West Texans and to be an integral contributor to practical research designed to advance the health status of rural Americans.
