As the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, we strive to provide the highest standard of medical care for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, encompassing primary, subspecialty, and tertiary care. We serve as an advocate for pediatric health issues affecting the infants, children, and adolescents of our region and state.

Eating and sleeping, pooping and peeing - so is the life of a newborn. From diapers to pull-ups to big kids' underwear, from first day of kindergarten to senior prom, children impact and influence the lives of others, touching us in special ways. As a pediatrician, and more importantly as a father of four and a grandfather of four (for now), I have had the privilege to observe the growth and development, the excitement and fears, and the wonderful smiles that make pediatrics so appealing.
As the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, our mission is to:
- Ensure excellence in the education of undergraduate medical students and graduate medical residents
- Provide the highest standard of medical care for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, encompassing primary, subspecialty, and tertiary care
- Participate in meaningful research
- Serve as an advocate for pediatric health issues affecting the infants, children, and adolescents of our region and state.
