Secondary Application
Below is a list of items you must be familiar with when applying to the Texas Tech University HSC School of Medicine.
Secondary Application Information
- Message from the Dean of Admissions
- The Secondary Application will be available after May 1st.
- This application is independent of the TMDSAS or AMCAS (MD/PhD and/or JD/MD applicants only) main application.
- Your TMDSAS or AMCAS (MD/PhD and/or JD/MD applicants only) application does not need to be submitted prior to the beginning or submission of this application.
- The Secondary Application fee is $50.00 and is nonrefundable
- Important: If you are applying to the MD/PhD and/or JD/MD program through AMCAS and the MD program through TMDSAS, you are only required to submit one Secondary Application.
Secondary Application Instructions
- The Secondary Application should be filled out online through Merlin, the Online Admissions Application Wizard for TTUHSC.
- TMDSAS PIN
- For your External ID, please provide your TMDSAS PIN (or AMCAS ID if you are an MD/PhD and/or JD/MD applicant). This will be used to automatically link your primary (TMDSAS, AMCAS) and secondary applications. If you have applied through both a TMDSAS and AMCAS application, please only use your TMDSAS ID.
- Logging in
- Please visit Merlin and read the information posted on Logging in
- Starting an application
- Once you have logged in, click the Start Application button to begin a new application
- Follow the prompts and select the school, program and term for which you are applying for
- Click the Finish button to create your new application
- Completing your application
- Click on Forms and complete the required Secondary Application
- You will be allowed to save your progress as you go; however, once you submit your application you will no longer be allowed to make any changes.
- Click on Fees and other charges to submit payment
- Please add the Secondary Application Fee to your shopping cart to submit your payment
- If you have elected to pay by check/money order please send payment, payable to TTUHSC SOM, to:

- Please remember that your application will not be considered complete until your payment has been received
- Click on Forms and complete the required Secondary Application
- Submitting your completed application
- Click the Application Packet Submit section located on the Applications page, and read and complete the required digital signature
- Please make sure to check back often for any updates or action required by logging in to Merlin
A Completed Application to TTUHSC SOM
- If you are checking the status of your secondary application and are seeing "No status found", this is normal. Please contact the office of admissions to confirm the status of your application.
- TMDSAS Application (completed)
- Includes all supporting documents (signature page, fee receipts, etc.)
- AMCAS Application (MD/PhD and\or JD/MD applicants only)
- Includes all supporting documents (signature page, fee receipts, etc.)
- All declared Letters of Evaluation
- Letters must be submitted through TMDSAS or AMCAS.
- All MCAT Scores
- The highest scores from the past 5 years will be evaluated.
- TTUHSC Secondary Application (completed)
- TTUHSC Secondary Application Fee ($50.00) and is nonrefundable
