Clerkship

Information:

Learning Objectives:

-Airway evaluation

-Proper use of airway equipment, including:

laryngyscopes
laryngeal mask
fast track laryngeal mask

(Intubation manikins are available for practice in the operating room.)

-Basic concepts of anesthesia including minimum alveolar concentration, fluid balance, neuromuscular monitoring, regional anesthesia, etc.

Didactic materials: 

-Introduction to Anesthesiology:  contains overview of material to be covered during the rotation. 

-Anesthesiology, Ron Miller.  Available for Loan

Operating Room Protocol:

Dr. Escudier or the designated board runner will indicate which rooms are available for medical student teaching.  If you are not assigned to a specific team for the day, please discuss your desire to participate in any case which interests you, with the team responsible for that case prior to the beginning of the case.

Please check out at the end of the day with Dr. Escudier or Mrs. Stacy Martin  @ 743-2981.
