Upon the completion of this activity the participant should be able to:
  • summarize, using a sample size of 50, the accuracy of estimating fetal weight (EFW) within 2 weeks of delivery
  • examine the relevance of ultrasound fetal measurements for contemporay obstetric practice
  • highlight the contribution of weight estimation formulas as opposed to biometric measurements of indivdual parameters
  • present a new formula for EFW to optimize prediction of macrosomia and propose a study to be conducted in our unit
  • discuss methods of fetal assessment in growth restricted fetuses
