Correctional Managed Health Care
Welcome
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is a nationally recognized leader in correctional health care, providing health coverage for more than 32,000 state inmates in West Texas.
- In 1989, TTUHSC began providing health services for offenders housed in Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional facilities.
- In 1998, TTUHSC began providing health services to inmates in the county jail category.
Our high standard of service is evidenced by the fact that all State Correctional facilities that receive health services from TTUHSC are accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
The Texas correctional managed health care program represents a legislatively established partnership between the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB). The partnership is governed by the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee (CMHCC) and is responsible for providing comprehensive health care services to adult offenders incarcerated in Texas state prisons.
