Correctional Managed Health Care
Programs & Services » County and Private Jails
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has recently expanded its correctional health care services to include providing inmate care in county jails. Currently, TTUHSC is providing care to 500 inmates in the Ector County Jail located in Odessa, Texas.
- The primary basis for inmate-instigated lawsuits against cities and counties is civil rights issues involving medical treatment. A high-quality health care system for inmates is the best defense in the courtroom.
- As a governmental entity, Texas Tech can provide correctional health services directly to other government entities with interlocal agreements. Of course, TTUHSC can also submit a proposal in a Request for Proposal process.
In addition to providing care to inmates in county jails, TTUHSC can also provide care to inmates in private jails on a contractual basis.
