Profile on Dr. Charles Wheeler
Driving a burnt orange Porsche in Red Raider country doesn't keep Dr. Charles Wheeler
from supporting medical education and serving as a preceptor for TTUHSC School of Medicine. The longhorn fan has made his Radiology elective a very
popular rotation amongst students in Lubbock and for several who travel from Amarillo,
Odessa, and El Paso. Dr. Wheeler is the only Radiologist in Lubbock that provides
a radiology elective rotation for fourth year medical students.
Dr. Wheeler was selected as Preceptor of the Year for exemplifying outstanding aspects
of clinical medicine. For demonstrating a spirit of cooperation for medical education,
a commitment and continuous desire to teach and mentor students and serving as a role
Since 2009, Dr. Wheeler has mentored students and taught them to view and read radiology
images. Students line up for an opportunity to take his course.
Dr. Wheeler received his medical education at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
in Fort Worth and training at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr.
Wheeler is a Clinical Assistant Professor at TTUHSC School of Medicine.
