In 1994, the UMC Southwest Cancer & Research Center developed the UMC Southwest Cancer & Research Center Basic Research Group. This group enhances the basic research efforts by:

Clinicians and research scientists collaborate on various cancer research efforts.
"Bench to clinic" treatments provide a dynamic forum for exchange of information.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center provides scientists.
