Selman Welt, M.D., R.D.M.S. is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He attended medical school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before completing his residency at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Welt went on to pursue a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Duke University in Durham, NC where he remained on the faculty for four years. Before joining the faculty at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 1990, Dr. Welt was an associate professor at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. From 1996 to 2003 he spent time in a private practice. Dr. Welt also received specialized training with ultrasounds and received a national certification as a sonographer.
Dr. Welt's daughters are grown and live on the East Coast. His hobbies are collecting southwest art and traveling. He also enjoys cooking and spending time with friends. He is active in clinical research projects outside of patient care.
