Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is located in Lubbock, Texas and is contiguous with University Medical Center and Children's Hospital. Comprehensive medical care is provided to the people of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico through these hospitals that contain 354 beds and 40 bassinets, admit over 16,000 patients annually with over 11,000 Emergency Medical Service transports and over 2,000 births. There are over 400 physicians on the medical staff and 180 resident physicians. University Medical Center is the only designated Level I Trauma Center in West Texas and includes the Timothy J. Harner Burn Center. TTUHSC Outpatient Clinics see over 176,000 patients per year.
Covenant Medical Center is a high volume private practice that offers upper level residents experience in Anatomic, Clinical and Surgical Pathology. CMC has 1,200 beds and over 38,000 admissions.
The Preston Smith Library of the Health Sciences is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to Texas Tech graduate and former Texas Gov. Preston Smith. The library serves the TTUHSC Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health. As the major resource of clinical information in West Texas, the library also serves health professionals throughout the area. Preston Smith Library of the Health Sciences is open seven days a week and boasts 50,000 square feet, 28 group study rooms, and 64 computer workstations. Laboratory and Internet access is available from all library computers.
