Other Benefits
- Up to 5 days of leave time each year to attend an approved medical conference (in addition to vacation time)
- Tuition for required certification courses are paid by the department:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Half of the American Board of Pediatrics Certifying Examination is paid for by the department
- In-service training exam (American Board of Pediatrics) yearly for all pediatric residents
Vacation / Sick Leave
Vacation:
Up to 15 days for PGY 1 and PGY 2 residents
Up to 20 days for PGY 3 residents
(Typically only weekdays are counted, with all efforts made to give the preceding and following weekend off also)
All residents get the week of Christmas or the week of New Years off, for an additional week of paid vacation.
Sick Leave:
Up to 12 days per year
Liberal family leave, including maternity and paternity leave
