General Staff Course Descriptions
The following classes are offered for all SOM staff. These classes are periodically taught throughout the year and are also taught by request for individual SOM clinics or departments. Scheduled classes will be advertised through e-mail, flyers and the TTUHSC announcement page.
Communications Skills: Strategies for Success
This class covers basic team building communication skills. Participants will learn to identify and avoid communication barriers in the workplace. They will also complete a survey to determine their own communication behavior style and learn how their behaviors may be interpreted by their co-workers. (2 hours)
Terrific Telephone Tactics
This class is designed to address the following five major indicators of good customer service on the telephone:
- Speedy Response
- Accurate Information
- Genuine Concern
- Reliable Follow-Through
In addition, this class will address the best strategies for dealing with an irrate caller. (1 hour)
Coping with Conflict
Participants will learn coping skills to aid in the resolution of personal conflicts in the workplace. They will also learn how to prevent many personal conflicts from occurring or escalating.
We also offer customized training and will work with your department to create specific training classes to meet your unique needs. A sample of topics that can be customized for your needs is listed below:
