Eligibility Requirements

  • TTUHSC students have first priority on all available electives.
  • All applicants home schools should be an LCME accredited medical school or a school accredited by American Association of College of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM).
  • Applications will be accepted anytime, but applications will not be reviewed until after June 15 for the next academic year.  They will be reviewed in order of which they are received.
  • You should expect to receive notification of your approval within 3 weeks of that date.
  • There is no application fee.
  • All students applying for a visiting elective must be in their final year of medical school at the time of the requested elective.
  • To be eligible to take an elective, students must provide us with the following AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION:
    1. Completed and signed application.  The application should be forwarded to the campus the student is requesting to visit.
    2. Health Survey and Immunization History Form and Documentation showing compliance with all immunization requirements.
    3. Documentation of current personal health insurance coverage.
    4. Documentation of minimum professional liability coverage of $25,000/$75,000 must be in effect before student can be scheduled for an elective.
    5. Criminal Background check done and passed.
    6. HIPPA verification.
    7. OSHA training-documentation within last 12 months.
    8. Current CV
    9. Copy of official Step 1 transcript
