If you have time to give, Lubbock has numerous social and service organizations, nursing homes and agencies that need volunteers to provide a variety of worthwhile services. Adult Protective Services needs volunteers to help handicapped and senior clients with shopping, errands and transportation. 762-8922.
American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to their treatments. Volunteers also are needed to work in the office. 792-7126.
American Red Cross needs volunteers to teach health/safety courses, including first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, on weekdays during business hours or on Sundays. Disaster training is free. 765-8534 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Atria Cottage Village needs volunteers for activities, to read to the elderly or to play music and/or sing. 799-4225.
