Personal Interests
I started my surgical career here in Lubbock as an Intern in the Deparment of Surgery. I completed my entire surgical training at Texas Tech and decided to stay on as faculty. My husband is also on staff as an Anesthesiologist. We have two young sons and are enjoying the craziness of their early achool years. Lubbock is a great place to work, live and raise my children. Go Red Raiders!
Clinical Interests
My main focuses are trauma, burns, and general surgery. Abdominal wall reconstruction and reduction are one of my interests. Intra-abdominal neoplasms/cancers and general biliary surgery is also a favorite of mine. I am also able to help coordinate and evaluate problems that may involve more than one surgical discipline.
Educational Interests
My clinical focuses are trauma, burns, critical care, and general surgery. I am involved with general surgery clinic & OR at both our main university hospital and the prison hospital (TDCJ). Critical care rounds in the SICU and BICU make up a large majority of my workweek as well as OR cases in all of the above specialties. My research interests include: surgical nutrition, abdominal wall reconstruction, sepsis/SIRS, burn wound healing and scarring patterns, resident education and trauma prevention.
