Research Interests:

  • Burn care, including resuscitation, sepsis, and pain management using virtual reality technology
  • Pediatric burns, with a focus on child abuse
  • Breast cancer, specifically health care disparities and the utilization of newer technology such as MRI and partial breast irradiation
  • Trauma and burns outcomes research
  • Use of Radio-frequency identification (RFID) for monitoring and ensuring handwashing compliance

My clinical interests cover all aspects of general surgery. I perform both open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I also manage the ICU care of critically ill surgical, trauma and burn patients.

  Educational Interests  

Research interests include all aspects of trauma, burns and the management of critically ill patients. I have a focus on injury prevention and the relationship between substance abuse and injury. I also have an interest in nutrition and surgical healing.
