Graduate Department APRN Program
TTUHSC NMW faculty and students believe women deserve quality, woman-centered, evidence-based, interprofessional health care where the woman is the central focus of the team activities within the family unit context.
The purpose of the TTUHSC NMW Program is to educate nurse midwives for improving women's health across the reproductive life cycle and beyond through scholarship, interprofessional teamwork, woman-centered care, and service.
The TTUHSC School of Nursing Post Masters Nurse Midwifery Track is a full time, distance education program that requires 33 semester hours (two years) for degree completion. Courses are online or web-enhanced. Web-enhanced courses combine both online and face-to-face classroom study/learning activities. All clinical experience learning hours (4 courses) completed in the Nurse-Midwifery population focus courses occur in El Paso and other approved sites. Travel to Lubbock is required for student orientation, and the advanced skills and health assessment practicum. The average cost per semester hour is between $300 and $400. Upon completion of the degree graduates qualify to take the American Midwifery Certification Board exam.
The nurse midwifery program holds full Accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), formerly the American College of Nurse Midwifery (ACNM) Division of Accreditation. This organization establishes the criteria for pre-accreditation and accreditation of educational programs in Nurse Midwifery in the United States. For more information, contact:
