Partnerships/Collaborations
South Plains Coalition
MISSION
To increase enrollment, retention, graduation and academic advancement of qualified nursing students and promote the nursing profession on the South Plains.
HISTORY
This project is funded by the department of Labor through an H1-B Technical training grant that was granted to the WorkSource of the South Plains in June 2002. The four schools of the Nursing Coalition, SPC School of Nursing, LCU School of Nursing, Covenant School of Nursing and TTUHSC School of Nursing are performing the implementation of the grant that is designed to recruit more entry-level RN nursing students and provide scholarship and training to support the goal of meeting future demands in the nursing profession. The Covenant Health System and university Medical Center have pledged to interview and hire new RN graduates and are supporting grant efforts through the Summer Health Camp for junior and senior high students and the Medical Invention Contest for all ages. Our Community partners are committed to the success of the grant project.GOAL: To increase the RN workforce in the South Plains.
