Welcome to the Iota Mu Chapter Home Page, Celebrating 25 Years as a Chapter! We are part of Region 3 of Sigma Theta Tau International and we are located at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing.

As part of Sigma Theta Tau International — Iota Mu Chapter you will join an international community of 260,000 nurses who share scholarly success, clinical experiences and personal integrity through a network of chapters located on nearly 400 college and university campuses. Members put themselves and the nursing profession at the forefront of health care. Together, our members serve as potent agents and catalysts for change throughout the world.

Current Iota Mu Chapter Activities
  • Our next meeting will be a general membership meeting! It will be held on Monday, September 25th from 11:30-12:50 at TTUHSC in room 2C152. Please RSVP by Monday, September 18th to bren.threadgill@ttuhsc.edu if you plan on attending since we will have food.
  • If you would like to nominate a member of STTI-Iota Mu for Member of the Month for excellence in leadership, research, or excellence in continuing education, please email courtnie.martin@ttuhsc.edu by the 10th of the month

Student Membership Criteria

Induction into the Iota Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) happens twice per year and coincides with TTUHSC Convocation and Commencement.

Undergraduate Students must
  • have completed 1/2 of the nursing curriculum;
  • achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.0 or higher);
  • rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class;
  • meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Registered Nurse Students must
  • have completed 12 credit hours at current school;
  • have completed 1/2 of the nursing curriculum;
  • achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.0 or higher);
  • rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class;
  • meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Graduate Students (Master's and Doctorate) must
  • have completed 3/4 of the nursing curriculum;
  • achieve academic excellence (at schools where a 4.0 grade point average system is used, this equates to a 3.5 or higher);
  • meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Nurse Leader Candidates must
  • be legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country;
  • have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field;
  • demonstrate achievement in nursing.
