| Bio | Amie Taggart Blaszczyk, Pharm.D., CGP, BCPS, FASCP is an Associate Professor of Geriatric Pharmacy Practice and the Division Head of Geriatrics at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy on the Dallas/Fort Worth campus. She is also the residency director for the ASHP-accredited PGY2 Geriatric Pharmacotherapy residency. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University in 2003 and went on to complete a pharmacy practice residency in Milwaukee, WI and a specialty residency in geriatric pharmacotherapy in Baltimore, MD. Her practice and research interests include neurodegenerative diseases affecting older individuals, senior education and the impact of community outreach on outcomes. She is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, and serves on the editorial board of The Consultant Pharmacist. She is also an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, and the Dallas-Fort Worth College of Clinical Pharmacy. She has completed an ASCP-sponsored traineeship in Parkinson’s Disease and sits on the medical advisory board of the Northeast Texas chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association. |

Research Interests:
Dr. Blaszczyk’s research focus is on the neurodegenerative diseases affecting older individuals, as well as the impact of medication education on compliance and outcomes.
Practice Focus:
Dr. Blaszczyk’s practice at the North Texas VA Medical Center Community Living Center allows her to focus on the medication-related problems of seniors during rehab, including pain management, psychiatric disease management and optimization of drug regimens for other chronic disease states—all the while keeping the tenets of geriatrics at the center of the care plan. She also provides pharmaceutical care in the Geriatrics clinic at the North Texas VAMC.
Professional Service:
Dr. Blaszczyk is actively involved in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, serving as an educational liaison for TTUHSC, participating in student/resident programming at the annual Senior Care meeting, as well as serving on the Editoral Review Board for The Consultant Pharmacist. She is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacists, and is a past-president of the DFW ACCP chapter. Dr. Blaszczyk also serves on the educational advisory board of GeriatricPharmacyReview.com.
