Bio Dr. Jinhui Zhang joined the Department of Biomedical Sciences in January of 2011. He received his Master`s degree in Medicinal Chemistry and Ph.D. degree in Pathophysiology from Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine, China. He continued his postdoctoral training in the field of genomics/transcriptomics/proteomics of cancer and diabetes at the University of Minnesota and the University of South Carolina. His primary research interests focus on the mechanisms of prostate carcinogenesis and new chemo-preventive agent discovery and development.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Pathology and Pathophysiology, 2000 Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine, China

  • M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry, 1997 Beijing Institute of RadiationMedicine, China

  • B.S. in Biochemistry, 1994 Nan Kai University, China

  • Postgraduate training:
  • Postdoctoral research associate, 2005-2007 Department of Food Science and Nutrition
    University of Minnesota

  • Postdoctoral research fellow, 2002-2005 South Carolina Cancer Center
    University of South Carolina

  • Research Interests:

My current research involves: 1) identification and functional study of targets for prostate cancer chemo-prevention through geno-proteomic approach; 2) development of new chemo-preventive agents (natural or synthesized compounds), including activity based purification, in vitro/in vivo activity evaluation, pharmacokinetics and molecular cellular mechanisms.
