Bio Shanal F. DeSilva completed his Bachelors Degree (Biotechnology and Chemistry) from West Texas A&M University, Canyon, Texas in 2010. A native of Colombo, Sri Lanka, he became involved with TTUHSC working as a volunteer in a lab in the Pharmaceutical Sciences department and then as an ABRI intern the summer of 2011.

Shanal joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences as a Ph.D. student with the Graduate Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences in January 2012. Currently he is working in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Abbruscato.

A.S. – Biotechnology; Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, IA, 2008.

Research Interests:

General research interests include pathophysiology of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), pharmacology and toxicology.
