Bio Laura M. Sorensen is currently a Pharmacy Practice Resident at the Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System & TTUHSC School of Pharmacy. She is originally from Round Rock, TX; she received her B.S. in biology from Texas A&M University. She then received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center Rangel College of Pharmacy in May 2012, graduating with honors. Dr. Sorensen is appointed as an Assistant Clinical Instructor at TTUHSC School of Pharmacy and precepts pharmacy students in their 3rd professional year. Her primary interests include hematology/oncology, infectious diseases and internal medicine. Her residency project will focus on identifying risk factors of lenalidomide induced myelosuppression in patients with multiple myeloma. She is currently a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), The Rho Chi Society, American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). In her free time Dr. Sorensen enjoys listening to live music, traveling as often as possible, trying new restaurants, spoiling her cat Toby and watching sports/reality television. After completion of the pharmacy practice residency she plans to pursue a PGY2 specialty residency in either hematology/oncology or infectious diseases.
