Bio Arthur A. Nelson Jr., R.Ph., Ph.D., is the founding Dean of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy. The School is based in Amarillo, with regional campuses in Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, and Lubbock. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Northeast Louisiana State College, and a Master's degree in Pharmacy from Northeast Louisiana University. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Health Economics from the University of Iowa. Nelson taught at the University of Illinois Medical Center, was Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of South Carolina, and served as Dean of the Colleges of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Idaho State University. He moved to Amarillo in 1994 to begin the process of planning and establishing the Texas Tech program. Nelson has published more than 100 journal articles and books, and has received more than $2.5 million in grants and contracts to support his research.
