Nelson is Professor of Pharmacy Practice. He was the Founding Dean of the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy and previously served as Dean at the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy and the University of NE Medical Center College of Pharmacy. He was also Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences at the University of SC and Assistant, then Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of IL Medical Center.
Nelson received his B.S./M.S. in Pharmacy at Northeast LA and Ph.D. in Pharmacy at the University of Iowa.
Recent honors were being invited to be the Keynote speaker to the Tx Society of Health System Pharmacists and N.M. Society of Health System Pharmacists annual meeting. He was also honored to be the White Coat Ceremony keynote speaker at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Most recent professional service was as a voting member of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing, appointed by the AACP.
Nelson's wife is a pharmacist as are his two children. His Son is also a surgeon.
