Phone Lists, Pager Lists, FAX, Voice Mail
The secretaries of each department and the dean's office will maintain an updated listing of all faculty (paid and affiliate) that includes mailing address, telephone number, pager information (if relevant), FAX number and voice mail number. The dean's secretary is responsible for compiling the lists into a school-wide list and making. These lists are for internal use only and may not be distributed to individuals outside Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech University without permission of the Dean of the School of Pharmacy.
Each faculty member (paid and volunteer) shall be assigned an e-mail address by the Director of Computer Services. These addresses will be published by the School on its Web Page and in the AACP Directory.
Paid and volunteer may purchase dial-up e-mail services (PPP Services) and Internet services from the TTUHSC Amarillo Computer Services Center. High-speed, modem services can be obtained at a price significantly less than commercial providers. The annual rate in 1996/1997 is $90/year for unlimited access to the Internet and e-mail. Please contact the office of Information Systems at 354-5404 for information and application forms.
Computerized Schedules
During the Spring, 1997, the School is planning to develop a faculty/staff computerized daily schedule. The purpose is to facilitate the scheduling of meetings and other functions a number of the faculty and/or staff are required to attend. A computerized schedule will reduce the time needed to develop meeting schedules. All faculty and staff will be encouraged to maintain a current schedule on the computer once this service has been developed.
Mail services are provided by the campus mail office. Services include daily delivery and pick-up of U.S., campus, and inter-campus mail. Please check with your department's secretary for the time schedule of pick-ups and delivery.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to not have personal mail addressed to the School's address. Our address is:
1300 South Coulter
Amarillo, Texas 79106
Phone Bills, Fed Ex Bills
Faculty and staff are generally not charged for long distance telephone. However, it is critical that all long distance calls be for business matters; no personal telephone calls, except in the case of emergencies, shall be made from School of Pharmacy telephones. A pay phone has been provided on the first floor for personal calls. Individuals making personal telephone calls may be subject to paying these charges. Business matters pertain only to your duties as a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center faculty member.
Faculty and staff are generally not charged for long distance telephone and Express Mail (e.g. Federal Express) mail. However, individuals who expect to have more than an occasional Express Mail package charged to their department should discuss this with his/her chair. Individuals with grants/contracts requiring express mailing should pay the costs from their funds.
The University has a special contract with Airborne Freight (1-800-247-2676) for overnight express mail with guaranteed delivery by noon the next day. For packages that must be delivered by 10 AM the next day, the University has a special contract with Federal Express (1-800-238-5355). Please see your department for the account numbers.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the U.S. Priority Mail for packages that require speedy delivery but where overnight is not critical. Priority Mail is delivered in 2-3 days for $3 up to 1 pound, versus overnight express which can be as much as $11/small package. Priority Mail can be placed in the normal mail pickup.
