Using the Lubbock library on Site

The Harrington Library is connected to the TTUHSC Library in Lubbock via the Internet The TTUHSC Library Home Page is located at http://198.213.101.15 This Home Page provides access to LIS (Library Information Systems) the HSC Library Catalog, which lists holdings for the Lubbock, Amarillo. El Paso and Odessa campuses; OVID Databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, IPA); MICRPMEDEX; and other links to World Wide Web sites in the health sciences.

Overview of Collections: Books, Monographs, Electronic Data Bases

The Harrington Library houses 18,467 monographs; 21,818 bound journals; and 663 audiovisual titles. The Library has 672 active journal titles. Library patrons have access to three electronic databases: MEDLINE from 1966-present; Cumulated Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) from 1982-present; and International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (IPA) from 1970-present.

Operational Policies

Normal hours of operation

Reserves Policy

Faculty may place materials on Reserve for student use for the period of one semester. Forms for placing items on reserve are available in the library. The faculty may indicate the reserve period (i.e. Non-circulating, 2 hour, 1 day).

Requesting New Materials

Faculty may submit requests for materials to be added to the library at any time. An annual review of requests is made in the fall. Items are reviewed for content, price, interlibrary loan requests, and their fit within the scope of the library collection.

Interlibrary Loans, Search Assistance

Patrons may request search assistance from any of the three full-time librarians on staff. The librarians will run the requested searches for a base fee of $10.00. Additional cost recovery charges may be added to the base fee depending on the databases used.

The Harrington Library belongs to several interlibrary loan organizations, which allow access to library materials throughout North America. Interlibrary loan forms are available in the library. Interlibrary loan fees are as follows:
