Committee Members Present: Drs. Sherry Luedtke, Celestin Youan, Girish Shah and Guest, Patrick King.

| Monthly Seminar Series | Patrick King discussed proposed seminar and his desire to go to both Dallas and Lubbock campuses to meet faculty and present seminar. The November 15th seminar will be on curriculum construction. | Dr. King will get with Regional Deans to determine convenient dates to visit their campuses and present faculty development seminars. |
| Faculty Development Topics and Faculty Needs | Topics proposed by faculty for future faculty development seminars were plagiarism and academic dishonesty for both faculty and students, time management priorities, academic advising, and advising of junior faculty. There was significant discussion regarding development of faculty/student relationships and ways to educate faculty on how to be a good advisor. Dr. Luedtke advised that the Dean has requested that we develop our academic advising program particularly since Dr. Supernaw has left and the need to advising our student who are performing poorly. The Committee decided to pursue seminars on plagiarism and academic dishonesty for spring 2003. | Dr. King is to contact someone he knows regarding presentation of a plagiarism seminar. Dr. Luedtke will prepare a proposed survey to send to faculty regarding various faculty issues. Dr. Luedtke and Sharon Harrison are to prepare a list of issues that faculty advisor need to be aware of with regard to curriculum requirements. Dr. Luedtke to inquire about potential speakers on student advising |
| Faculty Retreat | There was much discussion on the need and content of proposed faculty retreat | Inquire about potential topics for a faculty retreat in the faculty survey |
