| Welcome | Opening remarks from Dr. Sherry Luedtke, Committee Chair. Introduction of Committee Members and Guest Patrick King, Director of Teaching and Learning Technology. Dr. King discussed what his role and duties will be. | Faculty Development | The committee discussed topics for future faculty development and it was decided to survey the faculty to see what they would like to see We will begin using the Friday convocation hour to hold Faculty Development Seminar Series. In the beginning the seminars will focus on teaching and Patrick King will give the first four. Drs. Luedtke and King stated they would like for Dr. King to present the seminar twice and then have individual sessions with the faculty where they can come to his office for hands-on training on that same topic as follow up to the seminar. | Faculty Retreat | Discussion regarding faculty retreat and need to establish dates for retreat. The Committee decided to survey the faculty regarding their needs and topic for future faculty development. Two categories already requested are technology and research. The Dean's focus is on renewing our vision for educational strategies and professional education. There was a recommendation from Student Affairs Committee that we have a session on plagiarism, standardization of teaching, academic dishonest and student ethics and plagiarism by faculty. The Dean would like to have a multi-day retreat at Possum Kingdom, the committee decided to survey the faculty to see if they are interested. There was much discussion on topics including ethics, curriculum mapping, WebCT and developing uniformity and consistency with the usage of WebCT. The most convenient time for a multi-day retreat would be the first week of July when there are no rotations. | Send survey to faculty regarding the focus of faculty development, topics for a retreat .
