Proposed Curricular Competencies

Dear School of Pharmacy Faculty:

As the initial step in the mapping and revision of the professional curriculum (outlined by Dean Nelson in March, 2003), the Curricular Affairs Committee proposes the following set of Professional Competencies and Expected Outcomes. These competencies define a minimum level of achievement and will serve as the framework for revision of the candidate ability statements and the subsequent mapping/tracking of those competencies and abilities throughout specific courses within the curriculum. The twenty competencies were developed based upon a merger of two existing documents, the competencies required by ACPE as stated in their "Standards for Curriculum", and the "Texas Tech Minimum Competencies" that were developed in 1994. The table at the end of this document will allow you to review how the two were merged.

The TTUHSC-SOP Professional Compentencies will be presented by CAC for approval at the May 8th faculty meeting. To facilitate the process, we are providing them to the faculty in advance for review and comment. The CAC will discuss all feedback from faculty and will post a revised set 72 hrs prior to the faculty meeting. PLEASE PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE COMMITTEE NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY APRIL 30TH (You may email the CAC Chair at krystal@ama.ttuhsc.edu).
