Telemedicine Training & Consulting

Education and Training

The Center is committed to providing training to health care professionals in telemedicine and its uses.  To this end, courses have been developed that encompass the technical, administrative, organizational, and clinical aspects of developing and sustaining a telemedicine program.

Telepharmacy class

Telemedicine 101™

The Telemedicine 101™ course is offered as a basic introduction to telemedicine. This 8 hour training session is designed for any person desiring to gain broad overview knowledge of telemedicine. In a small group setting that enhances the learning experience, course participants can learn about and develop the skills needed to:
  • evaluate their organization's telemedicine needs and determine which applications are appropriate,
  • develop criteria for selecting the telemedicine system that best meets their organization's needs, and
  • manage the delivery of telemedicine by building an organizational and clinical framework that is supported by the technology.

HSC satellite In addition, crucial information about legal issues and reimbursement policies is also presented. To round out the course, a hands-on practicum is provided to allow participants to become familiar with the technology, and taped video presentations provide feedback to assist in enhancing presentational skills.

Telemedicine 101™ courses are available throughout the year for community leaders, physicians, administrators, and anyone else interested in learning about telemedicine.



Custom Training

The Texas Tech Center for Telemedicine offers training courses specifically designed for unique and advanced telemedicine education needs. The staff and faculty work to structure training content in a customized manner which directly responds to the situation. The training can range from broad telemedicine information to detailed operations. The Center will also provide continuing education and in service training in an on-going manner.

On-Site Consulting

Staff from the Center for Telemedicine stand ready to provide specific consulting services to outside parties. Consulting services can include design of a telemedicine system or program, supervision of installation, training and operational oversight.
