Health.edu is committed to preparing Healthcare professionals for today and tomorrow.
In 1987 Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center received a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop a
project known then as MEDNET. As part of its mission to help physicians in isolated areas maintain contact with their peers, MEDNET offered
multiple services including teleconsulting, teleradiology and medical records networking. In January 1989, MEDNET became known as
HealthNet and expanded operations to provide continuing education courses. Initially, twenty-three rural Texas facilities received the
HealthNet courses via satellite transmission with topics specially tailored for rural healthcare such as rattlesnake bites and hyperthermia.
Health.edu (formerly HealthNet) became the first online medical continuing education provider in 1999. Health.edu now produces more than 200 hours of
educational programming each year. Courses are available for 16 medical disciplines in a wide range of topics. Over half a million
participants utilize our services in more than 500 facilities worldwide. From early satellite broadcasts to modern web-based services, Health.edu continues to be a
leader in health care education. In addition to our extensive course catalog, Health.edu provides an affordable learning management system designed to help your
facility meet your training and record keeping needs.
