Post Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is excited to announce its approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to offer a Post-Professional OTD. This new degree offering is expected to begin accepting applications in January 2020 for a start date of May 25, 2020.The Post-Professional OTD will officially begin accepting applications following a final regional accreditation approval.
The Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program is designed for licensed occupational therapists who possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy. The Post-Professional OTD provides these licensed occupational therapists an opportunity to elevate their professional degree to the doctoral level. Knowledge and skills obtained in the program will enhance an Occupational Therapist’s practice and position them for leadership roles within the healthcare environment and the profession of occupational therapy.
The Post-Professional OTD is offered online, allowing students the flexibility to participate in academic studies while maintaining their employment as an Occupational Therapist (OT). This also provides the ideal environment to apply newly-learned information.
TTUHSC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education does not offer accreditation for the Post-Professional OTD program or other post-professional programs in occupational therapy.
Be sure to check the TTUHSC MOT program webpage for up to date information. Should you have any questions about the program, please e-mail the program director at James.Geddie@ttuhsc.edu or telephone 806-743-3228.
For TTUHSC School of Health Professions to offer online courses in a state other than Texas, TTUHSC must first comply with that state's requirements. These requirements differ from state to state, with requirements being more rigorous and expensive in some states than others. TTUHSC SHP is currently working to gain authorization to offer online courses in all states.
