Eric Petersen, M.D.
Dr. Eric Petersen is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Family and Community
Medicine. Dr. Petersen received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern
Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency in family medicine in Spokane,
Washington, which serves as a referral center for rural communities in eastern Washington,
northern Idaho, and western Montana.
Prior to joining Texas Tech, Dr. Petersen held the position of Urgent Care Physician
with the Intermountain Health Care, Syracuse Clinic. Dr. Petersen also holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.
Dr. Petersen is Board Certified in Family Medicine with a membership to the American
Academy of Family Physicians. His clinical and teaching interests include hospital
medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, and the role of exercise in maintaining health.
