Important Dates and Deadlines
Seminar titles must be posted one week prior to your seminar. Your title must be sent
to the coordinator and corrections made in time for posting.
Students should begin committee selections with their mentor by the end of their first
year. Once a committee is selected students must complete a degree plan and submit
it to their mentor and the coordinator for review. The coordinator will submit the
final degree plan once approval from the mentor is obtained.
Qualifying Examination (doctoral students only)
The qualifying examination should be completed during the summer of your second year
once all didactic requirements are completed. The written portion should be completed
by June 1st. The oral portion should be completed by the end of August.
Thesis and Dissertation Defenses
Thesis and Dissertation Defense notices must be posted two weeks prior to your defense.
Please send your title to the coordinator three weeks prior to your defense date to
allow time for proofreading and posting.
Doctoral Exam/Defense Notification Form
On your Doctoral Exam/Defense Notification Form, please be sure to identify a Graduate
Dean's Representative prior to submitting the form. You may select any graduate faculty
that are not on your committee or appointed to the department. The graduate representative
will also need a copy of your disseration at least one week prior to your defense.
