General TTUHSC Policy Information
Public Information Policy
TTUHSC abides by the Texas Public Information Act which is codified in the Texas Government Code in Chapter 552 (formerly called the
"Open Record Act"). The act applies to information of every "governmental body" as
defined in 552.003(1)(A). What is public information subject to the Act is outlined
The Texas Public Information Act, with few exceptions, gives you the right to be informed
about the information that the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center collects
about you. It also gives you the right to request a copy of that information and to
have the HSC revise any information that is incorrect. You may request to receive
this information by contacting the office possessing such information.
TTUHSC has a public records policy that may be viewed here: HSC OP 01.03, Custodian of Public Records
TTUHSC's President is the custodian of official records, and has designated the Vice
Chancellor and General Counsel for TTUHSC as the agent for public records for TTUHSC.
Requests for public records should be in writing and specify what records or information
is sought. When a request is received, it shall be forwarded immediately to the department
head and the Office of General Counsel for response.
