Mission
To ensure that research laboratories are in compliance with institutional policies and federal safety regulations through regular inspections. To regularly test safety equipment to maintain proper operating levels. To document all inspections, tests, and operations of the division. To review research protocols as members of the IBC committee and to aid in Laboratory Safety Training.

Training
- Laboratory Safety Essentials is an online course which provides information to laboratory workers about biological, chemical, physical and ergonomic safety issues in the laboratory setting. Specific useful instruction is given on assessing risks of chemicals (MSDS, labels, LD50), biologicals (biosafety levels, vaccines, MSDS), ventilation equipment (chemical fume hood, biological safety cabinet, laminar flow hood/clean air bench), compressed gas cylinders and various other safety topics. This course is required for all TTUHSC laboratory personnel and must be completed prior to beginning any TTUHSC laboratory functions.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) have entered into an MOU. The MOU establishes the responsibilities of institutions of higher education for implementing and maintaining a program of reporting information concerning controlled substances, their analogues and precursors, and certain chemical laboratory apparatus used in educational or research activities.
Each research laboratory Principal Investigator must complete the survey at the following site. Login using your eRaider name & password:
