RESIDENCY APPLICATION PROCESS
The program receives applications solely through the Electronic Application Service (ERAS) provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges. You can contact your student affairs office for more information on how to apply through ERAS. For more information about ERAS, go to: www.aamc.org/eras/. The deadline for applying is December 1.
All applicants must meet the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners licensing requirements prior to acceptance.

LCME & Osteopathic Graduates: Please provide the following documents when applying through ERAS:
- Medical School Diploma
- Medical School Transcript
- Dean's letter summarizing medical school activities
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal Statement
- Three letters of reference (must be dated with current year)
International Medical School Graduates: If you are an international medical graduate, contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for application materials and requrements. Please provide the following documents when applying Through ERAS:
- Medical School Diploma (translated in English)
- Medical School Transcript
- Deans Letter or letters from program directors of each US residency program attended with rotations taken and skills evaluated.
- CV
- Personal Statement
- Three letters of reference dated this year.
- At least one year of U.S. Clinical Experience
- Valid Copy of your ECFMG Certificate
- USMLE Transcripts Passed within the number of attempts allowable for the State of Texas (no more than 3 attempts on 2 exams and 4 attempts on 1 exam).
- We only sponsor the J-1 Visa

The Interview: Your interview at TTUHSC in Abilene affords the best opportunity for us to show off our program and for you to meet our residents and faculty and see our facilities. The interview will allow you to become acquainted with our philosophy and practice for resident education and for you to determine if this philosophy meets your needs. We encourage you to bring your spouse or significant other to participate in all activities of the interview process.
The Interview Day: We try to provide a comprehensive yet enjoyable interview day. You'll meet with many of our faculty, interact with current residents, and get to know our community. You'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions about our program. Breakfast and lunch are provided during the interview day, and dinner with one of our residents and accommodations are provided the night before, if requested.
