MISSION
Family Medicine Residency Program Vision
To be an academically challenging, personally satisfying didactic and clinical rural site training program fostering the skills and integrity of family physicians with strong emphasis on high quality personal and professional skills, astute business management, and all aspects of professional integrity, while providing an opportunity for the Family Medicine Resident in training to develop excellent patient care skills and to facilitate growth as a person and as a physician.
Family Medicine Residency Program Mission
The mission of the Texas Tech Family Medicine Residency program is to promote, teach the fundamental traditions of the Medicine of Family Medicine. We will provide a stable, nurturing, supportive educational environment to:
- Train the family medicine resident to provide compassionate, comprehensive patient care within the scope of the specialty of Family Medicine.
- Enrich the resident's training and personal and professional growth with personal and professional mentoring by role models both within and outside the specialty that demonstrate excellence in clinical care, professional integrity and leadership.
- Promote professional growth, academic excellence and superior clinical performance by allowing the resident to focus on and take full advantage of the vast learning opportunities available in the community, outpatient setting and hospital setting.
- Facilitate and encourage the resident to become familiar with the institution, its medical staff, the city and the region in order to foster understanding of and commitment to the patients of the region served by our specialty.
- Prepare the resident with the basic knowledge and opportunities that will provide the basis for advancement, growth and success in whatever area of Medicine within the specialty is chosen.
- Encourage the family medicine resident to remain in the region to continue the medicine of rural family medicine and provide care in this medically undeserved area of Texas.
- Graduate a resident who has become a good ambassador and representative of the Texas Tech Family Medicine Residency program and the specialty of Family Medicine in all aspects of professional life.
