Pharmacy School Professor Recognized by TTUHSC Chancellor's Council
Dr. Jon Weidanz, an associate professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy in Abilene, was one of four faculty members from the Texas Tech University System to receive the Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards for 2007.
"These individuals are examples of the incredibly high quality of the faculty at both universities," said Kent Hance, chancellor of the Texas Tech University System. "They are among the many reasons our students receive an outstanding education. I am greatly impressed with the impact they make on our students and in their individual fields of scholarship."
This is the seventh year for the Chancellor's Council to present the awards. Honorees receive a plaque and a $10,000 cash award. The Chancellor's Council raises funds for student scholarships, faculty recruitment and support and other programs.
Weidanz has been with TTUHSC-SOP since 2000. He has received an SOP Teacher of the Year Award four times and was awarded the 2007 TTUHSC President's Excellence in Teaching Award.
