Staff Bios

George Bitar, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT-Associate

Dr. George Bitar earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Abilene Christian University and his Doctorate from Texas Tech University. He is currently the Director of Behavioral Healthcare Services for the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases (SWIAD). Dr. Bitar is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate, and AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate. He is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Collaborative Healthcare Association. Dr. Bitar has also completed a fellowship with National Institute on Drug Abuse’s National Hispanic Science Network.

In collaboration with Institute faculty and staff, Dr. Bitar has been actively involved in developing, implementing, and evaluating multidisciplinary research programs in partnership with local, state, and federal entities (e.g., Texas Tech University’s College of Education, Texas Department of State Health Services, United States Probation Office). His research interests include integrated behavioral health care in primary care settings, implementation science, and families involved with the criminal justice system. Clinically, Dr. Bitar approaches treatment from a strengths-based systemic perspective and has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups with a range of presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, addictions, and trauma.

Chad Graff, M.S., LMFT-Associate, LPC-Intern

Chad Graff earned his Bachelors degree in Family Studies from Brigham Young University. He completed a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Purdue University Calumet. He is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy here at Texas Tech University. Chad is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. He is also a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Chad has a strong interest in working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with substance and sexual addictions, divorce, and intimacy issues. He also has a diverse research experience working with the development of data management plans and implementation of evidence-based behavioral health programs. He is currently the Associate Director of Behavioral Health for the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases.

April Sizemore, MMFT, LMFT-Associate, LPC-Intern

April Sizemore earned her Bachelors degree from Lubbock Christian University and her Masters degree from Abilene Christian University. She completed a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. April is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. She is also a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies.

April has provided counseling services in a variety of settings, including college counseling centers, juvenile correctional facilities, private counseling agencies, pain management clinics, and intensive outpatient programs. April currently serves as Clinical Coordinator and Therapist for the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases.

Sara Blakeslee, MMFT, LMFT-Associate

Sara E. Blakeslee earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Tech University. She approaches her clinical work from a strengths-based, client-directed perspective with an interest in past trauma and a focus toward attachment issues. Sara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate working toward full licensure. She currently serves as a Therapist for the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases.

Austin Houghtaling, M.S., LMFT-Associate

Austin Houghtaling earned his Bachelor's degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development from Brigham Young University. He completed his Master's degree at Auburn University in Human Development and Family Studies with an option in Marriage and Family Therapy. Austin is currently working towards his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Tech University. Austin is currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate and is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Austin enjoys working with people struggling with substance and sexual addictions, trauma related issues, and domestic violence, among other subjects. Austin is particularly interested in how these issues affect marriage and family relationships and believes strongly in the process of healing and recovery. He currently serves as a Therapist for the Southwest Institute for Addictive Diseases.
