Professional Expertise:

Under Dr. Bickley’s leadership, the SOM began implementing its new undergraduate curriculum in September 2005, two years into the redesign process. Dr. Bickley has charted the course for stronger integration of the basic and clinical sciences across all four years of the curriculum. Her office is providing the first concurrent data on successive student performance on written and observed evaluations of knowledge, skills, and behavior in the history of the School. Dr. Bickley pioneered the first all-campus OSCE for Year 3 students and holds faculty workshops with Dr. Steven Berk, dean, to improve the rigor of OSCE methodology each year. As Project Director for the AAMC/ Hartford Foundation Grant, Dr. Bickley implemented a geriatrics curriculum in the SOM still in use today. In recent years she has focused both presentations and publications on topics in geriatrics. She is an experienced grant administrator. As Executive Director of the Garrison Institute from 2002-2004, she charted a dynamic strategic course that became a model for collaboration across the five schools of the TTUHSC, and reinvigorated the important IHA Research Grants Program. Dr. Bickley teaches at all levels of student and resident education. She authors "Bates’ Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking," a widely used textbook for both students and residents.
