Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center
The Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center opened in Lubbock in April 2002 and is the key focus for many of the Institute's activities. At a cost of more than $11 million, the facility includes 120 beds, with 60 beds designated for certified Alzheimer's care, as managed by the Sears Methodist Retirement Systems.
The building of approximately 72,000 square feet houses classroom space, conference rooms for student activities, enlarged exam rooms and nurses' stations, and telemedicine and distance education technology.
Using the traditional teaching hospital model, the Garrison Center serves as a clinical training and research site for TTUHSC medical, nursing, allied health and pharmacy students.
