Kenneth L. Stewart is professor of sociology and director of Community Development Initiatives at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. He is also a member of the faculty in the Department of Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Dr. Stewart is author or editor of five scholarly books, and numerous journal articles analyzing the social history of Mexican Americans, immigrants, and other vulnerable social groups. He has presented his work in a variety of local, regional, national, and international venues.

As director of Community Development Initiatives, Stewart has implemented numerous community-based research and evaluation projects involving demographic data and analysis of local social, economic, and public health issues.

Dr. Stewart writes a monthly column for the San Angelo Standard Times as a public education service to inform residents about findings and insights stemming from community-based research at Community Development Initiatives.
